The National Art Center Tokyo
The National Art Center is located in the Roppongi district. Its wave-like facade evokes oceanic themes, while the building was conceived as a "museum in a forest".
Inside, it houses the largest art space in Japan, with an exhibition area of 14,000 square meters. There are no permanent collections; instead, the galleries host temporary exhibitions and various events.
In designing this space, architect Kisho Kurokawa hoped that visitors would come not only for the artwork but also to enjoy spending time in the building—whether in the open areas, the café, or the library.
