Ryoguchiya Koekiyo Higashiyama Branch
On one of the streets in Nagoya, you can find a building featuring a distinctive triangular roof made of black metal. The roof’s shape casts shadows under the cypress eaves, shielding the space from the bustling road and evoking the ambiance of a Japanese garden. This design is a perfect fit for a shop specializing in wagashi, traditional Japanese sweets with a history dating back to the early 17th century.
Interestingly, unlike other wagashi makers that typically adhere to traditional methods, this company opted for an architectural experiment for their flagship store.
